This is meaningful to her because it showcases that Blacks are not only recipients of charitable acts, but that they give their time, talent and treasure to ensure those who need it most can have their needs met, and their aspirations become a reality. Linda Pittenger, DM ‘12, Associate Professor of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Worldwide Campus, has been named a regional recipient of the 2021 Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Program (ACBSP) Teaching Excellence Award.
The ACBSP recognizes individuals each year who exemplify teaching excellence in the classroom. Pittenger was honored, along with the other regional recipients, at the 2021 ACBSP Conference on June 25-28 in Miami, Florida.
Deirdre Dixon, PhD ‘14, won the teaching innovation award this year (May 2021) at the University of Tampa for creating a virtual study abroad program to South Africa. She had previously taken students there in person, so she and her colleagues worked together to allow students to get credit for study abroad when it was not possible due to COVID.
Larry Straub, DBA ‘15, was named the Director of the inaugural Doctoral of Business Administration program at Newman University. Larry was also a recipient of the 2021 Faculty Excellence Award.
Ted Ladd, PhD ‘16, serves as the Dean of Research at Hult, coordinating the activities of 400 faculty members across six campuses in four countries on three continents. Ted is also the Dean of Hult’s campus in San Francisco, hosting about 500 students who are pursuing four different masters programs in business. He has also designed a Doctorate of Business Administration to launch in September, 2021 with residencies in San Francisco, London and Dubai.
Kris Murphy, PhD ‘16, has accepted a position as a full-time faculty member at the University of Miami as a professor of business analytics.
Jim Hemsath, DBA ‘17, was appointed to serve as a member of the 2021-22 Weatherhead School of Management (WSOM) Alumni Advisory Council. Meet the other Advisory Council Members.
Gregg Lunceford, PhD ‘17, was named one of 50 Business Leaders of Color for 2021 by Chicago United. The award recognizes the most influential, diverse, and inclusive leaders in the Chicago business community. Read the article here.

Arron Fraser, PhD ‘18, is now an Assistant Professor at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia teaching finance and accounting courses.
Chris Lamb, PhD, ‘18, was the winner of the Healthcare 2020 Outstanding Reviewer Award for Peer Reviewed Journals.
Chris also led an investor group to acquire Sanquin Plasma Product & PIBe, two European biotherapeutics companies specializing in immunology and acute care, and moved to Amsterdam to become the CEO.

Varun Nagaraj, PhD ‘19, Kalle Lyytinen, Nick Berente and James Gaskin are finalists for the JPIM Thomas P. Hustad Best Overall Paper Award for this year “Team Design Thinking, Product Innovativeness, and the Moderating Role of Problem Unfamiliarity”. We will be announcing the winner of the Best Paper awards at the JPIM Research Forum, part of the PDMA annual conference (https://www.pdma.org/page/conference-central ). The conference will take place November 13-16, 2021 in Baltimore.
S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR) has announced the appointment of Dr. Varun Nagaraj, a US-based practitioner-academic, as the new Dean of the Institute.
