DEFINING DOCTOR OF MANAGEMENT PROGRAMS
CWRU’s Weatherhead School of Management Doctor of Management Programs now include the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) and the Ph.D. in Management: Designing Sustainable Systems. Common curricula and coursework during the first three years provide a foundation for conducting rigorous research and practicing evidence-based management. Courses are interrelated theoretically and methodologically and prepare students to bring academic, data-driven perspectives to bear on problems they may encounter in their organizations or in public policy advocacy. The DBA prepares practitioner-scholars to think intensely and critically about problems confronting an organization, a community, a nation and the world. Students are afforded opportunities to conceptually model these "wicked" problems, challenge existing assumptions and test new ideas. This is accomplished in a cross-disciplinary fashion with relevant contributions to both management theory and practice. Currently, students choosing to go for a fourth year produce directed independent research, participate in workshops and complete a Dissertation Defense to earn their Ph.D. advance their careers in academic and practitioner disciplines.
BECOME A WEATHERHEAD RESEARCH FELLOW! If you are interested in continuing publishable practitioner-scholar research, be sure to read about Engaged Practitioner Scholarship online.
“Bring it on home!” Even if you work at a university and have the scholarly resources needed to accomplish your work, you may not feel like you have a scholarly “home” that can help you shine. EPS offers a welcoming network of fellow scholars, and the guidance to support your efforts, that can make all the difference in your success.

JOIN THE ALUMNI COUNCIL
Your Alumni Council helps ensure a return-on-investment from your degree by working on behalf of your interests. The latest example is the degree change from DM to DBA. 2021-22 can be the year for over 300 alumni to come together to benefit from, participate in and support alumni activities. To do that, we need to know how we can make your investment more beneficial and valuable. Council members are responsible for staying current with alumni concerns. Participation requires one conference-call meeting per quarter, with occasional in-betweens for planning events. Information about joining the Alumni Council will be forthcoming.
